Windows Fatal Error - iLok, Reaper or VST Problem?

I am unable to load the UVI Falcon standalone and VST ... and the Eventide Blackhole VST. I'm receiving a Fatal Error Message ... the reason stated in the message is the same for both Falcon and Blackhole. A screen capture of the error message is attached. Windows 10, Reaper, Falcon, Blackhole and the ilok License Manager (software version) are all up to date. Everything was running fine a week ago. The only system change since then has been a Windows 10 update on 8/9/16. I suspect the iLok License Manager doesn't like the Windows update ... but I dunno. I have contacted UVI and Eventide but have not heard back yet. Perhaps someone here has run across this problem and has a fix or work around I can try on my own. Any ideas? Thanks! KenB

Not having those or iLok take this with a grain of salt... You may have to reinstall or reauthorize iLok but is simply a guess due to the database wording. However, you could try running reaper as admin since that relates to rights/access as well - right-click > run as administrator but that is only a test because you should never have to do that unless something is wrong.

That error message is indeed related to the ilok software. I have been a "never ilok" person for years...until about 6 months ago I won a KVR giveaway and won Falcon...great synth software by the way...required ilok software. I made 3 different system images (3 different imaging software!!) and took the plunge into what I have always called "ilok hell", or to keep it short, "Satan Software".... Never had a single problem...until I got an error just like that. Had not done any Windows update, so it was not tied to that. In fact, I could not even reinstall without a very thorough uninstall, reboot, then reinstall the ilok software. That was over a month ago now and have not had any further problems. I suggest that you COMPLETELY uninstall anything Pace related, reboot, and try reinstalling whatever the newest version is. Good luck, and definitely post back here.

Over on GS there is a thread on this. Apparently it is the plugs that use the software iLok setup that are suffering, for th emost part. \the advice on there is "dont demo anything new or install anything new till this is fixed" Too late for some of you apparently. Bummer.

While this is a major bummer for those caught in it, it is also a prime example of why many of us will totally avoid anything to do with iLok.

My wife and I joke about being "the luckiest people in the world" (people who envy/envied our lifestyle, acheived by hard work and sensible budgeting) but I have to say I think I do have a charmed life with Waves products. I had one slight hiccup just pre Waves Central release & have been golden ever since. NOT pushing my luck and buying or reinstalling anything till the "all clear" is given on this one though! :D

Yup, issues here too. Several iLok activations now gone: Soundtoys, AIR, xx. Reaper v5.23/x64 won't load VSTi. Will give iLok some slack, as things have been quite stable _ (3) Desktop PC systems _ for some time. Empathy for all whose professional projects are impacted :(

Ouch ... that is a major canard. Not a Reaper problem though. I have several iLoks (1st and 2nd generation) for EW plugins and Pro Tools, no issues fortunately. But I'll stay away from any software upgrades for now. To the OP, can you roll it back to a previous version?

I have a question. Do you know if the ILOK is plugged into the same USB port all the time? I'm not able to be sure, but It seems that having it in the port that it was originally in at installation results in less issues.
