Assing an interface input to a track

Hello, I'd like to create a custom script to assign at the current selected track one of the inputs of my interface (rme babyface if it helps). Maybe there's no need for a script or maybe there's already a thread about this topic but I can't find it anywhere using the search fuction :\ Thanks in advance.

For selecting an input channel the track needs to be armed, press the R (record) button, then the field appears with the input selection.

Sorry I didn't explain what I want to do, I'd just like to assing that action to a key on my midi controller, that's why I think I need a script
